Dear friends, we give you the latest news about the situation in India, and in particularly about what's happening in Puri, due to the dangerous pandemic COVID19 that is spreading also there now.

These are some pictures of the children of our Beatrix School who came together to pray for us and for our dear ones,so that we can overcome with no danger all this difficulties that each one of us has to go through.

We thank from our deepest heart all the children that with such an intense love, have spread so many sincere blessings on us.

The Education department has chosen our school to conduct the District level Science exhibition on 11-12 Dec. Big preparation is going on.

Our Beatrix School was chosen among 200 projects from different schools in the district.

The Education Minister will inaugurate it. I am sending the invitation and the gratitude to all the benefactors from all the students for making it possible that such things may happen in our school.

It's with joy that we thank the generosity of all our sponsors that made it possible to repair all the main damages of our school. Next week the school will start all the classes again.

Today I received some pics showing the enthusiasm of all girls and boys to start studying again. Many books and uniforms were lost or destroyed, that's why the students got a new uniform, green like the color of hope.

And hope is truly creating their future.

This is the current situation at the Lepers' Hospital, the Beatrix School and in the labor rehabilitation laboratory.

Here are the first estimates of the damage after the terrible Ciclone Fani that destroyed everything in its passage:

Mail from Puri 17/5/19  

      Puri city is totally destroyed. No trees are standing, all electric poles, installations, mobile towers, roofs of Hotel and houses made of asbestos or Steel blown off. All houses from the light house to Ishopanthi ashram are blown off. The sea beach road resembles a mountain of sand. Hotels along the beach totally destroyed with sand and rubble flown in with the storm.

     Coming to more personal issuses, the damage to the building and property of Karunalaya, Ishopanthi ashram and Beatrix school is beyond words. All window glasses of school and Ishopanthi are broken, 10KW solar panels in the school, 16KW solar panels in Ishopanthi ashram are totally destroyed and blown off, solar panels and solar water heating system with 4 water tanks of the hostel and school main gate are blown away. No trees are standing in Ishopanthi ashram and Karunalaya office premises.  Clearing the debris and fallen trees may take couple of weeks. Even after 6 days, electricity is not restored in Bhubaneswar city, leave alone Puri.

     God alone knows what more is waiting for me in the leprosy colony, dairy farm and workshop when I return on 15 May. Even a fair assessment of the damage may take few days . You all have been with us in the thick and thin of our life in Puri mission.

      I only pray God shows us the way and gives us the strength to stand amidst this destruction. I shall briefly keep you informed of the things when I reach back in a week's time.
